I must say that I fully agree with the other reviewers relative to the quality, design, styling, and look of this boot. It is a great casual boot that is quite versatile. I was able to break it in quickly and am satisfied with the fitting. I have owned Clarks shoes before and normally go down 1/2 size to get the correct fit. I was able to do the same with this product. Now, the one negative on the boot. There are work days when I spend most of the day on my feet. To be honest, this boot is not that easy on your feet. I wish there was more cushioning in the sole or even inner sole as it is quite hard and almost like standing on a brick. I am going to see if I can fit a thin inner sole in to cushion it. That is the only reason I knocked off one star because everything else about it is great. Wow, if they could introduce some Air Technology into this boot they would not be able to keep it in stock. I will add that I have dealt with Clarks Customer Service before. They are "top rate" should you have an issue. I plan on keeping the boot and will adjust but wish it had more cushion in the design.I had been looking for years for a pair of desert boots. In my youth in the 60's they were quite common and I wore out more than few pairs. So I was thrilled to find them available through Clark's.These are the classic desert boot, identical to those available in the past. I guess they've always been available, just hard to find in stores. They took a little while to break in, but now are extremely comfortable. I get comments on them all the time.My only suggestion would be to go to a red vibram sole instead of the crepe. I had a pair like that, also with bigger brass eyelets, but they were not made by Clark's (don't know who made them and have not been able to locate a similar pair). The light colored crepe absorbs the dirt and grime so the soles always look black. Plus, crepe doesn't seem as durable as other sole materials.Aside from that, I love the shoes and highly recommend them.I like these shoes, but sizing is a huge issue. I went with my normal size, despite a few comments suggesting going small, and wore them for a day before deciding that it wasn't a matter of breaking them in, the damn things were just too big. My mistake, obviously, but given the standardization of shoe sizes, one wonders how they can be so far off. A bigger question is that they fit as expected for two thirds of buyers - the 13s I got were very clearly bigger than that. Perhaps there's an issue with consistency or that specific size.I'm left unsure how to proceed due to my excitement to get wearing them, and am a bit frustrated as a result. Getting the sizing right would have made me a much happier customer. The Clark Desert Boot I had tried on in a store after receiving my 10.5. The shoe salesman said that they run large and that a majority of the people end up purchasing a size smaller than their regular size. I tried on the Desert boot in the leather, not the suede and it fit great and felt good. So I ordered the 10 and when I received it, it did not have the same comfort feel of the one I tried in the store in a leather. The suede one I purchased, although it fits, it just does not feel as comfortable as the one I tried in the store. I have kept them as I like how they look and hope they will break in more . They are cool shoes. We shall see how they fit going forward.Growing up in Tucson a few years ago, being a senior in Hi School, I had a pair of Clarks Desert Boots that I wore daily without fail into my College years. I didn't really take care of them and in time they just molded to my foot. The uppers collapsed to the form my foot and the soles did the same. I cleaned them by rubbing them with sand. They just kept looking better and better. The only drawback I can remember is when I stepped in a puddle of gasoline of the day and the soles got a little gooey. I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem with what they call gasoline today although I haven't tried it. Funny how somethings change and other things remain the same. Just got my first month on them but they feel the same.I love my Desert Boots. I had a pair in High School in the 70s and when I saw them on Amazon I had to get a pair. They still feel just as comfortable as ever. I bought men's even though I am WOman. I did this because of price and also men's are usually a little wider. Couple things to consider before buying though. I agree with those who say to buy a size smaller than it says. According to the sizing chart I would wear a size 7 but a 6 fits perfect. Also they might feel kinda tight across the top of foot but they loosen up within just a little while wearing. Because of this I would recommend wearing them around home a couple times before trying to wear all day. This way you can take them off after a bit. After doing this they will give you all day comfort. And they look fantastic.I accidentally purchased these in my normal athletic shoe size and had to send them back for a replacement. The vendor was very quick in getting the new order sent out as well as refunding me for the first one. This is the third pair of Clark's I've bought and I love love love them for spring/summer wear. With a pair of trouser socks, they're almost as good as bare feet when it gets hot out and they perfectly straddle the line between cool comfort and office/business casual appropriate. For this price, I may buy a third pair before they summer is out as they usually run about $130 in the Clark's store at the mall.Well, a lot has already been said about these classic boots and it's all true. I am not going to say much. As already mentioned countless times, they do run large so one should always size down from their usual sizes. I wear Africa size 10 normally so ordered US size 10 (which is actually Africa size 9.5). They fit like they were developed for my feet and very comfortable. This is my second pair, my first was navy blue leather. I chose this sand as it is so classic. You can never go wrong with these boots. My next pair will definitely be the grey saddle leather which Amazon appears uninterested to ship to Africa. I encourage all men to have at least a pair in their closets...These feel just a little loose on my feet, but no insert I've tried proves as comfortable as the natural shoe, so I'll stick with it. The crepe sole is both a strong point (nice and soft underfoot) and a weakness since it is flexible enough that I can feel pebbles. The suede prefers to stay dry (which is understandable for something called a desert boot), so use preservative if you live in a climate where rain occasionally falls. The sole also blackens from dirt but if you live near a beach, go for a walk in the sand; the abrasion will help clean the shoe's bottom. All in all, I really enjoy these boots, even if they're not five star in the above ratingawesome dealPerfect gift. New owner was delighted.Would recommend buying a half size under what you usually purchase, and purchase some stain blocker if you plan to wear these in wet or snowy weather. As described. Thanks!Came promptly, these were boots that I could not find at a local Toronto distributor of Clark's.
