Description
Omni-Freeze technology means that this quick-drying polyester ripstop actually feels cool to the touch and actively moves heat away from your skin. Fishing-specific stain repellency sheds blood and guts as well as dirt and mud, so you’ll stay clean even when it’s time to do the dirty work at the end of the day and powerful UPF 50 sun protection is built in for long days when you need to steer clear of harsh UV rays. When you feel like enjoying a little more of the Vitamin D, zip-off legs convert the pant to a 9.5” inseam short complete with 5 handy pockets for all your essentials. Columbia Sportswear's Airgill line of active garments are specifically designed to keep your body cool during those warm days in the great outdoors. Airgill convertible pants feature active cooling and breathability, with gill-like venting at the thigh which expels warm air, and ushers in cooler air. Omni-Freeze ICE technology means this quick-drying nylon actively moves heat away from your skin and becomes instantly cooler when it comes into contact with moisture, so the more you sweat, the harder it works to lower your core body temperature. UPF 30 sun protection is built in for long days when you need to steer clear of harsh UV rays. Plan to use hiking in Texas in the Summer. Elastic in the waistband makes them fit snug, but not too snug, in the waist. One surprise when I first saw them was that the inside of the legs below the zipper has a screen about 2 inches wide that goes from the zipper to the hem. You can actually see through it to your leg. OK in the summer, but would be a problem if the cold wind blows and you expect your pants to keep the chill off. These will be my summer-only pants. I had not noticed it in the advertisement - I guess that is the Airgill.I really like these. While some did not care for the vents on the lower legs - Down here in the south and the islands, they work out well. No, these are not meant for travel. On the other hand, you don't need SPF 30 on an airplane either. These are for boating or - if you are sun sensitive - for the beach. The only recommendations I have is slightly deeper front pockets and better pricing. I have 4 sets of nylon convertible pants such as these - and two of them are this model. Highly recommended at the lower prices points. These may be fine for fishing but are definitely not appropriate for travel or use as casual pants. The "AirGill" feature is a strip of mesh that runs down the calf. In practice this just looks odd since your leg and socks are visible thru this light mesh. I am not a very formal person but I would not use these as travel pants.I liked everything about these pants. I wore them frequently during a recent 3 week trip in Haiti. They are sturdy enough to use while working outside and also are a nice looking pair of travel pants. They are cool and light. They wash and dry easily. I also sprayed them so that they acted as an insect repellent as well.Transaction from seller was smooth and very quick, but the description of the pants neglected to say that there is a translucent mesh panel running along the inseam. I imagine it's great for ventilation, but it looks odd to me (and I have pretty low standards).I cannot recommend these at all. I was excited to see them because I've had convertible pants that I loved. But I returned them after trying them on.They are great pant/shorts. They tend to repel water at first use.( have only got to use them once so far) light weight and comfortable to wear. I would recommend buying these and I would buy more in the future.Excellent pant. The quality is as always and if you know your size form another pant it will fit exactly.
