Ive taken my USMC Gen II ILBE Digital MARPAT Assault Pack on many adventures and is has performed amazingly. Its not perfect but it has served me very very well. When my environment is 100% urban I've gotten by with an older briggs messenger bag that has also performed fantastically. As circumstances changed, and I found myself needing to carry more stuff, traveling a lot more and finding myself in multiple climates in short periods of time the messenger just wasn't cutting it space wise and I often had a a ruck and my messenger which was unwieldy at best. I wanted something that would blend into urban and travel environments better than the Marpat pack and hoped also to find some worthwhile improvements. In furtherance of that goal I picked up the Hazard 4 Patrol Pack, the Maxpedition Falcon 2, the 5.11 Rush 24, and the Spec Ops UAP.Let me tell you right now, if you're looking for a tough pack that is a little more civilized, a little more refined, get this one. It reminds me a lot of the Tad Lightspeed packs, but at a fraction of the cost. Almost everything about this pack seems just right. It is the goldilocks of the packs. I have a lot of other hazard 4 stuff and its all held up great this one is no exception. It has the most comfortable padding in the straps for medium and light loads. It looks the coolest and least tactical. It has side pockets, and admin pocket and plenty of organization inside too. It has felt around the edges and the whole inside has contrast lining. It is the perfect urban/field blend. It has a great (removable) comfortable belt. The zippers are not as robust as other packs, but they are certainly not anything to sneeze at. The biggest complaint I have about this pack is that the the molded front pocket doesnt have full felt lining. It also is not as configureable as other packs, nor is it the toughest in the group. But it was the best all around pack.If you're looking for an all around good performer, that really shines in the city or office, is comfortable, is very organized and is plenty tough this is the one you're looking for. If you're on a budget I think the 5.11 offers the best bang for the buck and wins best value. The Maxpedition was a little smaller and more stream lined then the others so if you're looking for light and fast wait I'd get that one, its very different then other packs. The Spec Ops UAP is by far the most bullet proof and is extremely heavy duty (and most expensive--in addition to price you have to add pieces a la cart to it) and the one I ultimately decided on... but I was close to keeping both, or even just this one by Hazard 4.If you have any questions leave a comment below I'll get to it soonish!
