I have only taken this camping once so far, and it has worked fine. My friend purchased the cheaper base version a month prior, and we took them out together, so I got to compare the models.Pros:+ The stitching seems improved over the base model.+ The carry handle appears strengthened over the base model.+ The torso length adjustment can be adjusted down to a much shorter length than the base model can. The straps on the base model are so long that the adjustment doesn't really function after a point.+ The metal frame adds extra rigidity and strength, and the padding over it is also better than the base model. The padding is tougher and allows for the waist belt to be tightened more than the base model. I have a 30 to 31-inch waist, and it was able to be tightened just enough for my preferences when rucking. The base model could not.+ I love the way the entire bag zips open, and the full-length side pockets were also very useful for tools such as axes and folding saws.+ This pack is narrower than my shoulders, which is a great change from the molle II rucksack that I am used to, as I can actually go through doorways now.+ The top pouch in the lid at head height is large enough for my DJI mini 4K drone fly storage bag with controller and batteries, so that keeps it from getting crushed by other things in the pack and keeps it high up in the pack as well. Works out perfectly.+ The price tag makes this bag a bargain when compared to other packs on the market.Cons:- The bag is a little narrow, which only matters for me at the base, because I can only barely fit the Army Modular Sleep System when fully loaded with summer, winter, and bivvy bags. I need to crush every little ounce of air out with the compression bag to get it to fit. Though the zippers feel strong, it still doesn't feel great having the sleep system so snug against the flap. At any time but dead winter, the sleep system doesn't need to be packed so thick and wouldn't be an issue. And lighter-weight sleep systems would also likely fit much better. The MSS is modular and overbuilt, but hardly efficient.Overall, the bag has tons to offer at a killer price. Tons of neat little features and pouches that are actually useful. MOLLE is always a plus and allows for it to be expanded and modified to a degree. Hard to go wrong with this one.
