I have wanted a bag from Duluth for a long time, maybe 8 years? I first heard of them from an old mountain man I know. I really wanted the big bag with the side pockets and inside zipper and loop but alas money is always tight. I managed to save up some cash and jumped for this base level bag. I got one in dark brown and love it! The quality is amazing! Copper rivets, real full grain leather, heavy heavy cotton. I give this bag 5 stars because it delivers what it promises. I do wish it had a leather bottom to reenforce where it sits on the ground and I wish it had a little zip pocket inside it and I wish it had a grab handle on the top. But I know I would have to pay extra for all those things and for the quality that would come with them. I have had a lot of bags some cost as much as this one but none have had the quality. I hope this bag lasts many years and when it does wear out I hope to get another Duluth pack maybe with all the bells and whistles.Spend the money and have pack you can pass down to your children. Real hand built quality.UPDATE:I got one of those emails from Amazon asking me to further critique this pack. I guess critique is the word. Many questions about multiple compartments and features, a space for a hydration bladder for instance. This bag has one compartment, no hydration sleeve, no zippers, no slide buckles or polyester strapping. It's a very simple pack, it may outlast your grandkids. It's heavy waxed canvas with leather and cotton straps with metal buckles. It's sewn in the USA by a person that takes their wages and feeds a family or saves for a vacation, earns a retirement. Look inside yours and there's a tag with your stitches name on it. You can quietly thank them when you throw your things in it to go hiking, or put it on your kid with his or her school supplies in it or when you have to walk away from disaster with what you have left on your back. This is a pack that is a long term part of your life. My two year old son will inherit mine. Hopefully he thinks as highly of it as I do.All Duluth Pack products that I have are really well made, solid, and will no doubt last for my lifetime. This pack is smaller than the average canoe pack, so it'll be good for someone who can't carry a regular size pack on a portage (i.e. kids), but it's still big enough to put a lot of gear in (it's 20 x 18 inches).Item as described. It is just perfect! Awesome bag.Perfectly designed, simple bag in traditional canoe style. Built like a brick . . . you know the thing. I have some Duluth packs that are 30 years old; they are essentially like brand new.
